First Gynae Visit at KKH

The day for us to see our baby for the very first time as finally arrived! 😍 Both of us were on PM leave and due to the current Wuhan virus situation, we decided not to loiter around KKH. Instead, we decided to meet at Plaza Singapura for lunch first before heading to KKH for the appointment at 2:10pm. We ate Hot Tomato for lunch. Its been quite awhile since we last ate Hot Tomato, we love their salad dressing and aglio olio pasta.

After finishing our lunch, we took a train down to Little India and KKH was a short walking distance from the MRT station. We arrived at KKH Specialist Clinic B just before our appointment time and registration took a good 40 minutes. The staff helping with the registration was extremely slow and wasnt all that friendly. Once we were registered and given a queue number (A0913), we were told to proceed to Room 14 to take my height, weight, blood pressure and to do a urine test. Once that was settled, we then waited outside Room 23 to meet Dr Tan Kim Teng. During the wait, Husband decided to buy 4D using our queue number. 😂

After waiting between 15 to 20 minutes, my queue number appeared on the screen and a nurse came out of Room 23 calling my name. We entered the room and was welcomed by Dr Tan. She first went through some simple questionaires such as my pregnancy symptoms, last menstrual period and further commented that I was underweight and should try to put on more weight. She also commented that my pregnancy symptoms mainly just morning sickness is considered mild as I am still able to eat and work. There are days when the morning sickness and constantly feeling restless and tired irks me. She also highlighted the importance of eating folic acid which she was going to prescribe.

She then asked me to go behind the curtain to get undressed and prepare for the ultrasound. She told husband to wait behind the curtain and once she successfully locate the baby, she will call him in. She first tried abdominal ultrasound but due to my retroverted uterus, it was difficult to see the baby though she said she could see that there was. She then proceeded to do  a transvaginal ultrasound where she was able to successfully locate our baby in my womb! Obviously husband could hear her saying that she can see the baby and I am pretty sure the both of us were just simply relieved.

She called husband in and his eyes was just fixed on the monitor with our baby. Dr Tan then pointed out the head and bum of our baby and then a tiny flickering spot which was the beating of our baby's heart! Just looking at the flickering spot made me tear and felt so so relieved that our baby is doing well. Just wanted the moment to freeze so that we can spend more time staring at our singleton 😍.

Once the ultrasound was completed, Dr Tan estimated that I was approximately 7 weeks and 4/5 days into the pregnancy and estimated the EDD to be around 12-13 September 2020, which coincidentally is mom's and brother's birthday. Dr Tan highlighted the food that I should avoid and limit, the importance of folic acid and also the importance of vaccinations against influenza and whooping cough. She told us to consider the vaccinations and let her know during the next visit so that she can order them.

Dr Tan also said that the symptoms between week 8 to 12 could be worst for some 😔, so she advised to take extra caution and if the symptoms worsen, I should go back. Really hope that I would be fine. After we left the room, the nurse came out to give me my appointment booklet and highlighted to bring for every visit, then she handed me 3 photos from the ultrasound!!! 😍😍

The nurse told us to proceed to the pharmacy to collect the folic acid and to make payment at the self-payment kiosk. I informed her of my employment, she took down my employee number and institute and told us that we can leave immediately after collecting the prescription. No payment needed!

Finally at long last, our precious little singleton. DADDY AND MOMMY LOVES YOU!! 😘😘
